Gloria Corral's Fundraiser for Omar Passons 4 Supervisor

We have all been fighting for our youth for years and I am excited to be able to support a Board of Supervisors candidate who is calling for a major system shift to focus on support for children from birth to adulthood! Please join me in supporting Omar Passons, a former foster youth turned attorney and youth advocate who is running for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, District Four (Ron Roberts is termed out). We need Omar to elevate our work and our passion for children and he needs our help to get elected.

Please join me at North Park Beer Co on University Ave on Thursday, May 3rd from 5:30-7:30pm and help me support his campaign!

I only recently met Omar within the last couple months but we work with the same advocates for children and I was struck immediately by the depth of his passion and commitment. Omar has already released his StrongStarts4All plan to support every child from birth to adulthood and it calls for expanding home visits and high quality child care and expanded youth mental health services all the way up to subsidized transportation and paid internships. We talked about thinking through pay issues, about realigning our system and about having a true champion for children on the Board of Supervisors.

Omar is a construction and land use attorney with a deep history of leadership in our community, but also spent his early career evaluating public health and social service programs in Washington, D.C. so he understands that system change will take sustained and concerted effort. His experience growing up in San Diego’s foster system makes him well-equipped to understand the challenges facing the most vulnerable in our region, and helping them is a big part of why he is running.

This election is critical and with the mail ballots coming out the first week of May, this fundraising event will be a great way for us to help his campaign and really increase the energy among our peers to help Omar's campaign with financial support, volunteers, and energy.
